Information on Earning the Eagle Rank:
The official web site for Eagle information is www.nesa.org. NESA stands for The National Eagle Scout Association.
There are 6 requirements to earn the rank of Eagle. These sites outline these requirements:
The Boston Minuteman Council has a very useful guidebook so you can track your progress through all 6 requirements. The link for "The Eagle Trail Guidebook", Sept 2007 version is here:http://www.doubleknot.com/open rosters/DocDownload.asp?id=28774
http://www.nesa.org/trail/index.html is the official outline of the Trail to Eagle. At this site you will find the Sevice Project How-To Manual (http://www.nesa.org/trail/18-927.pdf) and the Official 2008 Eagle Scout Rank Application (http://www.nesa.org/trail/58-728.pdf).
www.eaglescout.org is an unofficial site that outlines the process and requirements and includes some additional information.
www.usscouts.org is another unofficial web site that also outlines the Eagle requirements.
Requirement 5 is the Eagle Scout Service Project
To complete this requirement, you must plan, develop, and give leadership to others in a service project helpful to any religious institution, school, or community.
The Service Project Manual is here at http://www.nesa.org/trail/manual.html. You must use this workbook (BSA publication No. 18-927) in meeting this requirement. At this link, you can access PDF, DOC or RTF versions of the workbook.
After you select a project, you will present it to the Troop 304 Parent Committee (contact Ann McCants to schedule this), and then you will need to obtain Council approval. Our Council contact is Tom Tiernan at turkey1117@yahoo.com. Make sure you fill out the workbook completely with lots of details and especially address safety issues. After you complete your project, you will need to complete the workbook and obtain the required signatures.
Eagle Scout Rank Application
The Eagle Scout Rank Application is submitted after all of your requirements are completed. The application form is here: http://www.nesa.org/trail/58-728.pdf.
The Eagle Board of Review
The Eagle Board of Review is like one of the most important interviews you will ever have. Make sure you know the Scout Oath, Law and Pledge of Allegiance. Be in complete AND CORRECT uniform. Pay attention to the types of questions in the links below, and think through them ahead of time. And then relax. This is an opportunity to review your accomplishments (it is NOT a test).
