Camp Dalton

Camp Dalton, named after Harold Dalton, a founding member of the Troop Committee, was a 40 acre parcel of wooded land on Federal Hill in Milford, NH. The property was sold by the church in 2006. The terms of the sale allow Troop 304 to camp on the land trust property in perpetuity.

Camp Dalton is the site of the troop's Freeze Out snow campout in February and occasionally a late fall campout with Webelos who are nearly ready to cross over. There is no water on site and water must be carried in. Sanitary facilities are also primitive. Total distance from Belmont, MA is approximately 45 miles. To get to the new site where the troop may camp:

  1. Take Route 2 West to Route 128/95 North.

  2. Go North on 128/95 to Route 3 North.

  3. Go North on Route 3 to New Hampshire, past Nashua.

  4. Take exit 6 off Route 3.

  5. Take a left at the end of the exit ramp onto Route 130 west towards Hollis.

  6. CAUTION: Route 130 forks to the right - GO TO THE RIGHT HERE (if you go straight ahead at this "fork" you head off track and never get to Four Corners).   There is a sign for this fork to the right but it is not obvious.

  7. Go 5 1/2 mile and come to a set of lights at the "Four Corners" in Hollis (this in the intersection of Route 130 with Route 122).

  8. Go straight through the the lights at Four Corners (still on Route 130).

  9. After 1/2 mile, take your first right onto Rocky Pond Road.

  10. Go 1.8 miles down Rocky Pond Road to a "T" at the very end of Rocky Pond Road.

  11. Take a very sharp right at the "T" onto Hayden Road.

  12. Drive 7/10 of a mile down Hayden Road to the entrance to the site on the left (a dirt road going up a hill).

  13. This dirt road is just before a black mailbox that has the number 187 on it and just before a blue house with a red garage door, also both on the left..

  14. The entrance is a dirt road going up an a hill and there is enough room for you to park on the right side of the road..

  15. As you walk in on the road as as you climb the hill take another dirt road (the first one to the left) to reach the campsight. You are at the campsight when you see the outhouse/latrine on the right side of this dirt road.
